But she has already announced a new book, How to Write a Love Story (coming out March 10, 2026)! Back to The Matchmaker, I liked it less than the others. The beginning was very promising, but everywhere it felt like something was missing just a little bit. The main character, Katie, lives in a small Irish village, works in a bar, and overall is content with such a calm and measured life. Until at some point a construction company arrives in her village. Rich men decided to build over her village, and she will try to prevent this. The book is called that because once upon a time this village hosted the matchmaking festival. Watching this “revival” of the festival was very interesting! Although I think all the difficulties were resolved rather quickly, and the festival itself didn’t impress me. I liked the main characters, and overall the book went smoothly, without any distortions or annoying moments. I recommend allll of Catherine Walsh’s books, but it’s better not to start with this one. I enjoyed such a steady narrative because I already have all of the writer’s stories in my head. Therefore, it’s hard to say if this book is suitable for a first acquaintance.
